Smart Use of Existing Buildings

This bond plan makes smart use of existing buildings.

Throughout the planning process, the McPherson community shared that fiscal responsibility is important. That feedback helped shape this bond plan, including the decision to move the Middle School to the Eisenhower site.

Due to declining enrollment, McPherson Public Schools was already planning to move to three elementary schools beginning in the 2026–27 school year. At the same time, the district needed a long-term solution to create a modern, functional middle school.

This plan addresses both needs at once.

Building a brand-new middle school would cost around $75M. Reimagining the Eisenhower building as a middle school is estimated at $21.7 million and allows the district to use a building it already owns.

This choice creates the biggest impact for the smallest investment. It helps maximize taxpayer dollars while creating learning spaces that support strong schools and inspired students.
